So let me start by saying that even if I could, I don’t think that I would.
I’ve watched enough sci-fi and fantasy to know that it is never a good idea to mess with time.
(Okay, they had to in Harry Potter, but seriously they were saving lives.)
If I could go back and live any year in my life though, I just don’t think I’d want to do it. However–If I was forced to go back and life any year in my life, I’d pick one from my childhood. One from early grade school, when the homework was easy, we had a nap during the day, and they came down the hallway with a little box of milk in the morning. Never mind the fact that those milk boxes were impossible to get open. Do you remember those little milk cartons?
So probably, that would be first grade. Back when I loved school, life was pretty easy (or so it seemed), and I was able to play all day (or at least, most of it). That hardest parts of life were when I had to eat liver for dinner. Or brussel sprouts. And this is back when your parents made you sit there and eat dinner, for however long that process might take. (It felt like days).
Nowadays, I love brussel sprouts. Can’t say as much about liver, but then again, I haven’t had said organ meat in quite some time. Maybe it’s good? (I doubt it.) Where I live, it’s something that is regularly on the menu. People eat liver and onions and other things that I won’t mention right now because honestly, it is early and my stomach is feeling funny just thinking about it.
So let’s not travel back in time, to an earlier year in life. Consider the wise words of Dr. Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park:
“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
Whether or not we could, I don’t think that we should.
Thank you for reading! Also, do you like liver and onions? I’d love to hear from you, and I hope you have a nice long weekend. If you like what I write, please subscribe. Thanks. 🙂
