Shop/Eat/Read/Repeat

Daily writing prompt
Which is the best thing to do in your city?

I love my little town.

It’s very quaint, with lots of shops and lots of restaurants. The shops have a very boutique-vibe. There’s a bookstore. Coffee shops. It’s fun to shop there, especially when I’m looking for something unique, or for a book. ๐Ÿ™‚

A couple weekends ago, I went downtown with my sister to go shopping. There are still stores I haven’t been in, including one clothing shop that specializes in gently-used, higher-end and vintage clothes.

When we walked in, each room had its own theme. It was unlike any shop I’d ever been in. It was actually fun to walk around. Almost like being in a museum/antique shop.

I bought a soy candle in a lovely pottery mug and a book. It was a good day.

I’ve been into some very creepy books as of late:

The Vegetarian by Han Kang

I could not put this one down. Read it in one sitting. I loved it. And while part of me wants to read it again, I don’t think I’m ready for that quite yet. The story of a woman’s slide into mental illness after trying to exert some control over her life and body pulls you in and does not let go.

The Wax Child by Olga Ravn

I started this one. It’s another slim read. Told from the point of view of a wax doll. Witchcraft n stuff. Scary cover, which is part of the reason why I bought it. Looks cursed.

The Fourth Wife by Linda Hamilton

Historical fiction. Gothic. Mormon household with four sister wives set way back in the 1800s. I’m almost done with this book and I’m like… WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN??!! Nothing good probably. Lol.

Do you have any favorite books you’re reading? Also, just as importantly, what are your favorite reading snacks???
