If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

I’m not much for banning words… comes too close to banning books in my mind, for some reason. And there’s a slight problem- just because you ban the word doesn’t mean you ban the actual thing that is that word.

Banning the word poverty wouldn’t get rid of poverty.

Banning the word war wouldn’t get rid of war.

Banning the word racism wouldn’t get rid of racism.

But in this season of lent, I am giving up something, and that is negativity. Because life is too short for that.

There’s the concept of ANTs- Automatic Negative Thoughts. Those thoughts that creep in, unwanted, coming from who knows where (it doesn’t really matter at this point). They are banished!

ANTs- That’s what I want to ban!
