Oh, she was a beast.
My first computer, along with the printer, the disk drive (which took my all-time favorite, floppy disks), and all the rest of the stuff, was huge by today’s standards. A lot of it was the monitor. But I had a lot of fun on that computer. We had a game called Ultimate Wizard, which had level after level. Pure 8-bit fun.
This was back when we were learning BASIC computing in school. I mean, BASIC. I loved it. I was the one that my mom relied on to hook everything up, which was mostly a matter of seeing what fit where and if it worked then good. If not, try again.
But Ultimate Wizard was so much fun. “Prepare thyself, Player #1…”
That’s how you knew the fun was going to start.
By that point I was already playing games on the Atari at home, and when I went to a friend’s. And I loved my Atari games. Space Invaders, Haunted House, Fast Food… I played my share of Pong, trust me. Pitfall and Asteroids ranked up there too.
But Ultimate Wizard! That one was epic. ๐
