There have been so many…. where to start? I used to cook and bake a LOT. I’ve tried making everything from home-made pierogies and crackers to multi-layer cakes with homemade icings. But mostly, I like to reminisce about all of the dinner disasters that I subjected my ex-husband to when I was a stay-at-home mom.
The poor guy.
There was the night I tried to pass off fake meat “riblets” as some sort of port bbq (“what kind of meat is this???”) There was the time that I made something called “olive balls” that he thought was a cookie. But my all-time favorite is when I tried to serve toasted english muffins with home-made tuna sauce on top. I feel a little nauseous just thinking of it. To be fair, it was NOT MY IDEA. A friend of mine was telling me how she had made this for her family for a quick dinner. But my construction worker husband (at the time) was not impressed. My family survived that night of tuna sauce on muffins- physically. But that dinner left an emotional scar on all of us. Never again.
